Margaret River Spider Orchid
Caladenia citrina
Synonyms
- Arachnorchis citrina
- Calonemorchis citrina
Notes
While similar in appearance to other species in the White Spider Orchid (Caladenia longicauda) complex, the Margaret River Spider Orchid is easily distinguished by its citreous colour (hence the scientific name citrina) and shorter sepals and petals. Flowering in September and early October, it is restricted to a small area of south-western Australia where it occurs along the Leeuwin–Naturaliste Ridge in the vicinity of the town of Margaret River. The Margaret River Spider Orchid is a typical forest dweller and grows mostly in gravelly or granitic soils in Jarrah and Marri forests.
