Common Mignonette Orchid
Microtis media R.Br. 1810

Notes

As its name already suggests, the Common Mignonette Orchid is not just common, but the only weed among the native orchids of south-western Australia. It can be found almost anywhere in large numbers and is particularly common in suburban gardens (including my own), parks and roadside flowerbeds. Some of the more unusual places where I have found Common Mignonette Orchids include the car park outside my office as well as the planters located on the platforms of several of Perth’s railway stations.
