Shining Oak Blue
Underside. (Edge Hill, QLD, 10 / 07 / 2023)

Appearance: Upperside bright iridescent blue. Underside ground colour dark purplish-brown with several dark markings. Very similar to other species in the genus Arhopala.
Wingspan: approx. 4.4 cm
Season: Several generations all year round.
Range: Northern NT; Eastern QLD, along the central and north coast all the way to Cape York.
Habitat: Edges of tropical rainforest, gallery forest, monsoon forest and mangrove forest.

Notes

The Shining Oak Blue is very similar to other species of Arhopala, in particular the Bright Oak Blue (Arhopala madytus) and the Purple Oak Blue (Arhopala centaurus), both of which have a similar geographic range.
